G41 mount

Last night (180808) was a great night for me. I set the mount for the first time on my roof where I could make a proper polar alignment and use plenty of sky (very highly light polluted Athens sky). I spent last week on learning the mount and though I have more things to adjust, last night was fantastic. As you can see in the photo, I only used it with an FSQ and later on I will put a 8" RC on for high resolution imaging but I'm amazed with what this mount can do. The polar alignment was easy, fast and very accurate. The GoTo's very good and after a carefull balancing of the weights I managed to get 10 minute unguided (!) exposures with pinpoint stars! I also did a PEC using the hand controller. But I only made three to four corrections during one worm circle and that's it. I don't think I really needed the PEC since I was imaging at 530mm focal distance. There was no periodic error visible with the FSQ! Amazing! I went up to 20 min unguided and I had minimum trails but those were from the not so exact polar alignment. If I carefully drift before I start imaging I believe I can go up to 60min unguided at 530mm which I find amazing.

TEC 140 refractor

Been waiting for my new kit which arrived yesterday courtesy of the main man Albert. Was hoping for a decent 5 inch Apo and Albert has 'sort of' delivered what I asked for - a TEC140 triplet! Stunning and can't wait to look through it and yes Albert I know you can't wait either! To say that I never thought I could afford one of these is an understatement.

This is not cheap equipment but it was so much cheaper than I thought. Cheers Albert, you've been a star from the moment I 'suggested' what I might like.

Takahashi 130 refractor

Without wishing to be too sycophantic, can I just add my own name to the growing list of Astrosource (UK) fans? I recently bought a Tak 130 from Albert in excellent condition and at a good price. There was a slight delay in its delivery from the US but credit to Albert, he kept me informed throughout the process and explained everything at every stage. You can really trust this guy.
